Precious Metals Precious Metals are rare, naturally occurring metallic elements with high economic value. They are useful as both industrial elements and investments. (Source;, 2019)

Tradeable precious metals include; gold, silver, palladium and platinum. Potential (industrial) uses include the following;

Gold- jewellery, electronics, medicine

Silver- solar and nuclear energy, antibiotics, electronics, cutlery

Platinum- Catalytic conversion (automotive sector), computer parts, oil refining

Palladium- Catalytic converters, medical needs, electronics. (Source; 2019) Gold is the most heavily traded precious metal followed by silver, which trades at a fraction of its price. (Source;, 2018). Australia is the world’s 2nd largest of gold in the world. (Source; 2018)
